Comments by walkers who stayed at Winterhouse Barn in Cowling on The Pennine Way
Very good B&B within a few metres of Pennine Way. Tony drove three of us to the Dog & Gun pub/restaurant in Malsis, because local places weren't open on a Monday night in April 2013. The food and beer there were excellent, and we had a taxi ride back for about 6. The B&B is warm and friendly and comfortable, and breakfast was very good.

We found Winterhouse Barn warm and comfortable. Olwyn gave us a lift to the Dog and Gun, where the food was excellent and reasonably priced. We got a taxi back along the very busy road. Fellow walkers staying nearby told us they had opted for a take-away pizza, the only food now available at that end of the town. We saw an extension in progress which Olwyn told us is to be a guest lounge.

Comfortable accommodation and helpful hosts but be warned check about evening meals as information on pubs etc is out of date and there is no reasonable local eating place. Evening meal at Winterhouse Barn is fine.

Excellent B&B - very convenient for Pennine way with Chinese takeaway nearby. Recommended

Stayed for 1 night 29th June 2002 - Very warm welcome even though we were very wet. Accommodation very good with excellent breakfast. Enjoyed the chat about model planes. Went on to complete the walk by 13th July.

We were unable to walk the Peninne Way this year because of the Foot & Mouth, but stayed anyway.
Received a very warm, friendly welcome, accommodation excellent, great breakfast especially the beans!!
Will be back next year to complete the walk.
