Comments by walkers who stayed at Tan Hill Inn in Tan Hill on The Pennine Way

Dropped by whilst doing the Pennine Way during July 2010 for a few beers. Did not agree with animals in the bar and kitchen area, and the self professed insanity of the landlady cannot be understated. I am of the opinion that there are much better places to stay without using Tan hill Pub for accommodation.

overated and to be honest a bit unhygenic with all the sheep s---t arround the porch and entrance, I would never stay there again.

Absolutely brilliant. Couldn't get to sleep in the bunkhouse due to Northern Soul being played by scooter club downstairs, but landlady moved us to a very plush en-suite and couldn't apologise too much.

A great place, not to be missed.

We agree with all the comments.

It's not the Ritz and doesn’t purport to be so. This is an honest to goodness madhouse in the middle of nowhere serving good food and providing good accommodation.

Brilliant!!! What a place, great atmosphere, spotless rooms, great food, and they are all bonkers. Whilst eating our evening meal, 2 ducklings were getting a swimming lesson in the kids paddling pool in front of the roaring fire, whilst a couple of lambs with pink collars were trying to get in through the front door, and at the same time a group of German motorcyclists were serving themselves behind the bar as the landlady was a bit busy. A superb place, averyone doing the pennine way just HAS to stop there.

I particularly wanted to stay at The Tan Hill and was not disappointed. Great pub, cracking atmosphere and good food and beer. You can't ask for more!

Oh yes this the place to stay. The highest pub in england and a roaring fire lit 24/7!! Great food, good hospitality and a lively bar atmosphere.
The rooms are clean and comfortable although a little small but really you have to stay here.Ideally placed to overnight after a good romp from Hawes!!
